WHO WE ARE

WINS_SuperPower2_850x1000.jpg

WINS is a political action committee in South Carolina. In 2020, even though women in South Carolina ran for the state house in greater number than ever before, women still make up less than 18 percent of the state legislature. WINS aims to change that. We empower women by engaging them politically and using both our resources and our voices to elect progressive pro-choice women to represent us.

Too often the inability to fund a viable campaign creates barriers for talented women to seek public office. When we pool our resources, however, we become a force for progressive change. WINS strategically targets women running for statewide offices and the state legislature. Electing women will effect change in our state and in our communities.

WINS has been founded by women for women. The founding Board of Trustees includes women who have run for office in South Carolina, former and current Democratic Party chairs, EMERGE graduates and Clyburn Fellowship graduates, and women who have experience with directing federal and state political action committees. We are currently filling the rest of the Board of Trustee slots to ensure a diverse representation of women from around the state.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Fundraise for candidates who identify as pro-choice Democratic women.

  • Connect with like-minded groups to build relationships.

  • Communicate the needs and experiences of women in the political arena.

  • Oppose candidates, elected representatives, and legislation that limits the freedom and equality of women.

OUR MISSION

WINS' mission is to elect pro-choice, Democratic women throughout the state of South Carolina. While supporting pro-choice legislation is a must for candidates, the other policy areas that we care about include protecting access to a full range of reproductive health care for all women, providing access to affordable health care, advancing the inclusion and protection of marginalized and disenfranchised South Carolinians, creating economic opportunities for women, addressing violence against women, supporting high quality public education, and protecting the environment.
